Does such a pre-review delay the posting of the advertisement?

6 Mar 2016. Does the Board review delay the advertisement from its normal publication date?

Am I the only advertiser who gets an Association Board review?

Since the previous advertisement was altered without my knowledge or consent, am I the only advertisement that is altered without consent or knowledge?

Hi Marybeth;

Up until Jan, 2016 all Board meetings were held after the 6th of the month. The 6th of the month was the last day that advertisements were accepted for the next months Park Paseo Newsletter. If I read your statement correctly you are saying that all advertisement requests made after a Board meeting were delayed by one month, leaving sufficient time for a review of the advertisement by the Board but not sufficient time to post the advertisement in the month of the Board meeting. As a result of the change in Board meeting times you are saying that some advertisement requests will be delayed by one month if the Board meeting occurs on or after the 6th of the month.

If I read you correctly, all advertisements are reviewed by the Board before publication, and hence, were delayed by one month prior to Jan 2016. When did this policy go into effect and why isn’t this policy stated? The only statement on advertisements that I have seen is that in each Park Paseo Newsletter it clearly states that advertisements are due by the 6th of the month. There are no further qualifications or caveats.

I have complied with the only stated requirement. Am I the only advertiser subject to this new requirement?

There are no new requirements. The advertising you are requesting is not typical, and the first ad was run with the caveat to me that additional requests, if any, would be discussed by the Board at a meeting. The Board will review this new request at their meeting on March 7h. It is up to them on what gets published and how. Each newsletter is reviewed by them prior to distribution to the members.

Afternoon Mr. Schwarz…the Park Paseo Press newsletter accepts only ads for services, ie: handyman or realtor and the like, and what you want to have inserted isn’t a commercial / company ad of this type. Homeowner ads are only accepted for the occasional sale/give away of household items or seeking assistance, ie: handing out flyers. The newsletter is not designed for publicizing information about websites.

Good Afternoon Ms. Wyatt;

See below for the ad description in the June, 2020 issue of the newsletter. You will notice that the posting in the newsletter includes none of “the occasional sale/give away of household items or seeking assistance, ie: handing out flyers.” The newsletter says that “general ads” are accepted including “babysitters, items for sale, etc.” And that’s the kicker. I have a general ad in the etc. category.

In point of fact I have had an ad placed in the Association newsletter for my website some years back. If you would like me to check I will check both the newsletter conditions on placing ads and the months that the ad was included in the newsletter. And, if  you would like, I will track down the newsletters to see what was included.

If you fail to allow a member of the Association to place an ad in the newsletter, after having permitted an ad of the same type and calibre, to wit, a reference to a web site, then you have substantially changed the meaning of the Association in promoting member participation in the Association. If this denial is a statement on your part to perform such ad libitum modifications then please so inform me.
